2015 was awesome!
Here’s a look back at the calendar.
January:
January 2015 started unusually warm. Here we are celebrating fireside, taking shelter from the drizzling rain under an upturned canoe in Wakefield, Quebec.
February:
The temperature quickly turned frigid, breaking cold weather records in the region and we went north to Québec City for the winter world-class event; The Québec Carnival. — A must, for everyone’s bucket list. When planning your trip be sure to attend one of the night parades.
March:
After the Carnaval, we thawed and hibernated in our home dreaming of future travels.
April: A loaded month of travelling.
Come spring, we hit the road and discovered New Yorks capital Albany, it’s stunning theatre; The Stanley in Utica and the charm of the Catskills.
Ginette travelled to the Netherlands with her daughters; the trip started with a mega party in Amsterdam.
Followed by a day of recovery in the Dutch town of Leiden.
And tulips galore at the Keukenhof.
May:
Their trip carried on to Istanbul and Izmir. Here, our daughters pose on the Galata bridge, one of the cities popular tourist destinations.
One of the trips highlight — Every day in Turkey started with a healthy choice of freshly squeezed juice.
And the view of Izmir from the rental apartment, Postcard perfect!
By the May long weekend, we were back hiking in the Adirondacks.
June:
June was a month of domestic activity, working the garden, painting the house and enjoying the local landscape. By month end, we helped a daughter settle into a new apartment and enjoyed a few days in Québec City and vicinity in the process.
July:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones live on the Plains of Abraham” — With a place to crash, Gordon returned to Québec City for the week long music festival: Le Festival d’Éte de Quebec.
The Plains of Abraham buzzing with 90 000 Rolling Stone fans awaiting the Stone’s final tour show.
August:
The car loaded with our camping gear and bikes we took a road trip to New England where we explored the Berkshires, Cape Cod and the villages of Vermont and New Hampshire.
September:
The warm September weather extended our weekend excursions. Here Gordon takes a break from skipping stones as kayakers go by on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Enjoying a secluded spot at Wellesley Island State Park.
We finished September on a high, hiking Saint Regis Mountain and becoming Saranac Lake 6er’s plus adding another fire tower to the list. Gordon ringing the bell, a privilege of accomplished Saranac Lake 6ers.
October:
We hiked Cathedral Rock, Azure, and Lyon Mountain, finishing three more of the Fire Tower Challenge. View from the tower on Azur mountain as a squall rolled in.
November:
Always a favourite time of year for us to travel. This year we toured Provence in the South of France, visiting Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles, Cassis and Marseille.
December:
When these vintage pixies make an appearance, the Christmas countdown is on. They never disappoint and consistently draw comments, such as; “Christmasy and a little creepy all at once” or “One or two look evil”. Although they take some verbal abuse, they hang around for the holiday celebrations.
Thank you all who follow us along. The countdown ticker is ticking, and our departure date for our big trip is within reach. We’re excited for what’s to come!
We wish you and your family health and happiness, and endless treasured moments and memories for 2016!
Happy New Year!
Ginette & Gord

It looks like you had a great year of travel, and came away with a lot of wonderful photos. Happy trails in 2016.
Thank you Jeff. Travelling with my three daughters to the Netherlands and Turkey was especially wonderful. They each had a camera and we came away with loads of photos (mostly landscapes and cityscapes) from that trip alone. Now I need to practice your tips from “The Art of Photographing Strangers”:) -Ginette
Happy New Year! I enjoy your posts! What is the countdown to the big trip at?
